More often than not, I will extend a helping hand for someone who is in need. It doesn’t take a lot to show someone you care and the rewards can be quite exhilarating when you receive a thank you and a show of appreciation.
I will do a kind deed with Aloha. This means that when I do a little something for someone from the heart… I do not expect anything in return. It’s easier to feel no regrets or hold anything against someone. Give with ALOHA
Otherwise, say NO.
Early in my career, I helped an elderly gentleman (home buyer client ...for three years mind you) to start ‘looking’ at homes while he paid down his VA difference on a short sale in the 80’s. He remained loyal all those years and in the end he made sure I got a referral fee selling his Big Island land ...and then he bought a townhouse in my complex. He is still there.
I took an elderly gentleman (former rental tenant) out last weekend and he was on top of the world! We went to Genki Sushi and he enjoyed an abundance of sushi! He is Japanese you know, and since he’s been in the care home he hasn’t been able to eat the kinds of foods he likes. We also went to the park and he smiled watching my grandson go around and around and slide down the slides.
From the Heart, with Aloha.
Both of these gentlemen have one thing in common. They do not have close family members on island that CARE. One has a sister here that helps take care of a lot of things for him but she feels that he is overbearing. The other has a sister on the mainland who does care but he loves his townhouse and …Hawaii. They both do not take my kindness as weakness. They make sure that I know they appreciate me.
There’s something to be said about a little act of kindness.
It goes a hell of a long way when there are no strings attached.
From the heart, with Aloha.
