I have long been an advocate to assist and help any new agent that joins us at Century 21 Liberty Homes. I've also helped new real estate agents who are on the other side of me too. Yes, they may be my competition in the future although I'm looking at the bigger picture here.
Helping those real estate agents who are new to the business (or you can fill in the blank on the profession...i.e. loan officer, escrow officer etc) will be beneficial as a whole to the real estate industry.
If they are getting assistance through a training program or through other agents/brokers from their company then:
They aren't running around blindly trying to do what they "think" should be the way. No matter how much education we get through our real estate schools, continuing education and so forth we still have to put that information into action with proper use. Our profession is filled with continuous learning lessons as there are no two transactions ever alike as well as changing rules and laws.
- They will know that internet marketing is number one priority for advertising. Statistics differ although I can safely say 85% of home buyers and sellers are navigating around the internet to look for local area home searches, agents and so forth. There are also rules/guidelines to follow regarding the way we advertise ourselves.
- Learning the purchase contract, state laws and our National Association of Realtors®, Honolulu Association of Realtors® and Honolulu Board of Realtors® rules and regulations. No one knows right off the bat how to speak and apply all learned straight out of real estate school. A Real Estate transaction is unlike selling a Product. There is care, concern and having a face to face relationship with our clients. We who are members of the National Association of Realtors® abide by a strict Code of Ethics and apply it.
When assisting others in our profession we are looking at the bigger picture for the Real Estate Industry. Just as we are doing online by blogging about our business; there are our peers who are learning from others by reading. Sure, we are helping others who may be our competition but in the long run........
By Assisting Our Competition ...
...is it a Good Thing?
