The crab in the picture had a little too much sun and got cooked right there on the rock!
Sharks Cove is a giant reef located on the North Shore of the island of Oahu and a great place for snorkeling & scuba diving. The crystal clear water depicts the awesome views of marine life in their natural environment that you are bound to see under the surface of the ocean.
With Spring already here and Summer approaching, this is the best time to snorkel as the waters are calm. (unlike during the winter when the waves go up and over the rocks) At the end of the reef the ocean drops off to about 25 feet.
Tip: Wear shoes! The rock and coral formations are definitley hard on the tootsies! Watch out for the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles (endangered species) and White Tipped Reef Sharks.

Picture above was taken in November of 2007 at Sharks Cove. (Kathy McGraw came to visit :) What a difference between Winter Swells and Spring Calm waters :)

Sounds mahvelous...
Kathy: Oh...the mahvelous views.... did you see the crab?
OK Sally- Here I go again! Beautiful, gorgeous photo, as usual. I now don't expect anything less from your photography talent:) I'll do without the sharks though:)
Sally,
I'm embarassed to call Galveston a "beach' At night the rocks look like theyr'e moving from all the roaches.
Katerina: I'm going to post another during the winter to show the difference...hold on.
Hey Greg: ugh...are you serious?
Sally, just look at that, wow. The water is so blue and clear. I love the ocean, perhaps someday I will live there. In the meantime, please keep those amazing pictures coming.
And the poor little crab, LOL. He didn't stand a chance.
Andrea: I didn't even notice until my daughter told me about how a black crab was climbing on her foot just moments before. I aske her how big was the crab and she pointed at this one...I was sitting there doing a video...snapping shots and didn't even see it!
BTW Everyone.....today is my daughters 27th birthday! Happy Birthday to Dori :)
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the wave crashing on the rocks! I have a few photos like that from Ponce Inlet, in our area. And I was gonna say how cute the crab was until I got to the part about him getting cooked right there O_O Poor crab =(
Sally...
It looks so beautiful .. one day I'll have to try to visit your gorgeous state!
Did you eat the crab?
I was thinking exactly what Rich said - the crab thing made me tummy rumble.
Sis - I was watching a Showtime special this evening for a MMA Group who held the event in your area. The stunning beauty of the area was enthralling, as always. While I just ate and the crab wasn't on my mind, come to think of it... you give me soft shell and some garlic and you've got yourself a happy camper:)
Ahhh...lunch on the beach. Maybe for the seagulls. What a beautiful place you live in!
As I read this and looked at the pictures and then I looked up, I felt so honored that I have a framed print of one these photos right here at my desk. Awesome!
William: One of my favorite shots! You are an honored friend :)
Lizette: Funny...nothing came by to feast on that crab lol
Lil Bro: Ah...one day you and Jennifer will be running on the beach sipping mai tai's lol
Jeff: Goodness...that little thing is just a tease! :)
Rich: Nah...Costco Alaska King Crab Legs is my thing lol
Richard: Goodie...we'll do some whackie things then lol
Lisa: that was pretty funny.
Here's the picture of my daughter right before I took that picture of the crab...she was telling me about the black crab jumping on her foot just moments before... and this crab was cooked to a white/orange color already in the sun :)
The white tips sharks are fun to watch. I have never heard of anyone being bitten by one.
Well, the big island is one of the places I do want to go and is certainly on my bucket list...Your building consultant for life in Nashville, TNSally, I'm not sure I would want to snorkel in a place called Shark's Cove but it sure is beautiful!
Yes to a walk on the beach with protective shoes, yes to avoiding bothering those turtles, No to those sharks bothering me, and I think the crab might be overdone so no to that too! Great shots as usual Thanks for sharing more of your paradise with us.
I love your localism posts and you always include such great pictures! And I am laughing at Rich's question! He is certainly a crab expert!
I absolutely love the picture taken in nov at Sharkes cove. I never visited Hawaii. Now I should plan for the trip. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Hi Sally, Thanks for another great picture... and the geography lesson !
Randy: Me either....but....
Michael: Have you been to our island?
Barb: There were plenty of people snorkeling that day.
Gorgeous shots Sally !
I love the crashing waves shot ! They have to be 20-30 feet high !!!!
Spectacular !
Cheers !
Sheldon :o)
Sally, Please wish your daughter a wonderful birthday! I'm sure it was and hope she has a full year of blessings to follow it. Your pictures are stunning....especially the difference in the peacefulness--are you SURE the water wasn't acting up because Kathy was there? :)
Sally, just stopped by to enjoy the wonderful scenery. Thanks!
What wonderful pictures. I think it is great to cook your crabs right on the rocks! I hope you enjoyed the beautiful day and happy birthday to your daughter,
Hi Sally...We would swim in a place called Shark's Cove when we lived in Somalia. There were sharks there right off the coast. However, it was much safer than swimming near the port in Mogadishu where garbage was thrown out into the ocean and sharks had feeding frenzies. Many local Somalies were attacked while we lived there.
Happy Birthday to your daughter. I am so glad for the two of you that she is there close to you.
