The brush fire from last week reignited today...closing down the H-2 early afternoon. By evening the helicopters were using the park (again) behind our house to fill their giant buckets of water. Many local Fire Departments came to assist.
In the midst of the stubborn fire a fiery colored rainbow was struggling to show it's colors.
By evening they were still working......

The rainbow showed the moisture in the air, it's too bad the heat was vaporizing the water before it had a chance to hit the ground and be more effective, Still a rainbow is always one of nature's better displays of color
God's curious design.
Sally, The rainbow is stunning. There are so many fires, I hope this is contained and put out quickly and everyone is safe.
Sally--It is so hard to capture the colors of a rainbow...But to get a shot like this under the circumstances is remarkable. I hope that the fires are contained in your area...We hear about the LA fires but there are fires all over the US that are not as large but just as devasting. Thanks for sharing this information and photos with all.
I hope they get that fire under control. Best of luck and have a great week.
The skies are beautiful although caused by devastation. Sometimes there is beauty in the most unkind events. Stay safe ... we need you. :)
Wow...I guess California is not the only place suffering from fires, I just never thought of this happening in your part of the world. Beautiful rainbow picture and I hope you are enjoying a fabulous Labor Day Holiday!
Love the rainbow, sure hope that they have the fires under control Sally. Take care and enjoy the holiday.
Sally, great pictures of not so great event.
It was a beautiful rainbow....and this am woke up with a film all over my car. Bottom line...the fire is just smoldering now....they're keeping an eye on it though.
Beautiful Shot Sally. I hope the fire does not start burning again. Have a happy Labor Day. Hope you enjoy whatever you are planning.
Woo Hoo Sally...
I'm going around delivering songs :)
Somehow, I just know you'll enjoy this one :)
TLW...ROAR!
Thanks TLW....:)
Hi Sally - Those of us who live in California are used to fire season occurring every year, but I never think of fires in Hawaii. I don't know why - I guess because it always seems to green and lush. Maybe the rainbow was to give hope to the firefighters and those in the vicinity of the fire - that it would be over soon.
By the way, I am listening to the song TLW sent you while I'm writing this. I knew you wouldn't mind sharing. ;-)
Sally - it certainly has been a scary time in many areas with these fires. And we are entering an even-more dangerous time because of temperatures and the Santa Ana winds. HOpe things are imrpoving there. It was nice to see the rainbow despite what all was going on. There have been some beautiful sun photos taken in LA, but so troubling when you know what is going on that creates that beauty.
Jeff
Sally,
Your photos are so beautiful.....nature never ceases to amaze me.
Jo
These fires can be so destructive. But I have to agree that the rainbow you captured is beautiful.
Sally... how far are these fires from you? I know many see this in California and Oregon.. but Hawaii? I hope all is well.
