Oscar and Evelyn Overton wanted a successful business and in 1940 Evelyn opened a small cheesecake shop in Detroit, Michigan but closed it to raise her two small children. She continued to bake in her own basement and supplied cakes to different restaurants.
With children grown they moved their cheesecake business to Los Angeles in 1975 and named it “The Cheesecake Factory”. In 1978 their son, David founded the The Cheesecake Factory Restaurant in Beverly Hills, California. 30 years later and with over 150 locations, including one here right on Kalaukaua Avenue in Waikiki.
My son and daughter accompanied me to a doctor appointment in town and when asked where they would like to go to lunch after my son suggested The Cheesecake Factory. He and I had not been there but my son and I were fortunate to try a piece of cheesecake my daughter brought home.
We wanted to save a ‘space in the tummy’ for one of their MANY selections of cheesecake so we ordered a Chinese Chicken Salad that my daughter and I split and my son tried the Spicy Meat Pizza. The salad arrived like a picturesque mountain and I was glad we decided to share it!
Our Cheesecake selections: One Ultimate Red Velvet Cheesecake for the three of us to share, One Ultimate Red Velvet Cheesecake to take home to my husband and One Caramel Turtle Cheesecake for my son in law.

Hi Sally! I've only been once and was overwhelmed by the many selections on the menu. That salad looks really, really good and I will probably try that next time!

I have heard many great things about the "Cheesecake Factory" but have yet to eat at one of their restaurants. Someday!

I love the Cheesecake Factory... Soooo good!!! Their Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake is my favorite and during the fall once they bring in their Pumpkin Cheesecake it is to die for!! :)

Uh oh, I think I just gained a virtual 10 lbs from reading the title! Love the Cheescake Factory. One of our good friends sometimes gets samples of their latest cheescake creations before they offer them to the public. Glad I don't live close by, I would need a new wardrobe! ;-)

Yum! We have a cheesecake factory here, the servings are so large it's hard to save room for the cheesecake itself! The chinese chicken salad looks delightful! I wanna go back to Hawaii!
Hi Sally, When we want a great place to meet and eat w go to the Cheese Cake Factory in Naples. Assuming it is the same chain I can attest to the amazing food and , of course, the cheesecake ! You're making me hungry now !!!!

We have a Cheesecake Factory over at the International Mall in Tampa as well. Talk about heaven! But JJ Gandy's up the road also makes a fantastic cheesecake! Now you have me craving cheesecake!

Sally that is one restaurant that I have wanted to go to but still have not. That pizza looked great, but I need to stay way from the cheesecakes :)
The Chinese Chicken Salad is my favorite. You gain weight just choosing what kind of cheese cake you want.

I just ate here the other day...well not in Hawaii (dreaming) but Seattle. I had a BBQ Chicken Salad and it was huge and delish!

Aloha Sally ~ Just went to the one here 2 nights ago in Brea, right in our own backyard, I had a gift certificate from a nice client to use.
The place was absolutely packed and my daughter and I laughed about it saying "don't these people know things are rough out there?"...you'd never guess it from the turnout there. Just goes to show that sometimes when you do something really well you can survive when others fail.
Celeste, it is a great place to get together with a family. We have Cheesecake Factory in Arlington, Virginia and it is always crowded. They truly have the most amazing selection of cheesecakes - hard to just pick one. Sound like you and your family had a great time.
Woo Hoo, The CF here in San Diego is a very popular place usually with lots of people waiting. One of my favorites there is the Kobe Beef burger. It melts in your mouth, actually mine, literally, :-)

Sally- This is our little guy's favorite place to eat besides Pinera Bread's Mac and Cheese. When we go to Cheesecake Factory which we do nearly every time to go to the movies, because it is right next door to the movie theater, he orders white chocolate rasberry truffle cheesecake for his dinner and he also eats the bread:) Katerina
Sally, I love to go to Cheesecake Factory. They have delicious food and provide good service.
Anything eaten in Hawaii tastes good. Lets get that settled now. As for the this eatery, they are well known for service and large portions and of course harboring many a fugitive sweet tooth...literally a good post here
