You ever had 'one of those days' where you are wondering if it's a full moon? The full moon brings up all kinds of chemistry changes and mind boggling conversations during a phone conversation...or just a 'walk in' to the office.
Events at the office on a Monday:
- I get a phone call and the person saw my blog I had written on Veterans. He wants to move to a warmer climate and wants to know what kind of programs VA offers here. I talk to him for a few...pull up the VA contact number and direct him to speak with VA about specific programs that may fit his needs. He also
says he wants to buy but has no email but will call me back with his sisters email address...which he didn't. - I am in the middle of talking to one of our tenants and in walks an older woman. She starts babbling about how she talked to the dentist next door about being harassed and that she has told everyone in our office and that everyone needs to know. Then she stops because she sees the tenants hat on the chair. She has a stick in her hand and proceeds to pick it up. I tell her to put it down and she instead hands it to me. Okay, at least she doesn't walk out with it. I watch her walk out to her.....grocery cart full of her belongings....and slowly stroll it away.
- In walks a teen with his girlfriend and he asks me if he can have a few listings. He proceeds to talk about how he is in high school and is doing a project on budgeting and buying a house to figure in his monthly mortgage payments. I decide to help him a bit as it is slow that afternoon and hey...helping the student would put me in the 'good Samaritan' category that day. I give him some info, a brochure of mine, my business card and go through what kind of job he may get and how much he "thinks" he can afford. We went with the cheapest one bedroom condos in the Mililani are. I printed out some listings and he couldn't thank me enough. I watched them walk out and away while his girlfriend puts her hand in his back pocket.
To extend a little compassion for the lost, lonely and young or old may just be just the food for the soul that we need each day.
This was ONE OF THOSE DAYS.

Sally,
Life, gotta love it.....compassion is definitely food for the soul and as they say 'he who entertains strangers may be entertaining angels unawares'....

All in the life of a REALTOR. Strange and even wonderful things just happen. No one can predict. The barometric pressure must have something to do with it, right?
My day isn't that great. My little CeCe ( Yorkshire) who has been through 2 ( 25 weeks each) rounds of Chemo for Lymphoma is after only 3 months now out of remission and they advise round 3. So she is in from treatment week one today. I wish there was catching a break on this one but it seems that is not in todays forecast either.
Woo-hoo: Some days we do have "those" days.... guess it helps us appreciate the "better" ones that come along....
Sally,
Word is getting out...what a soft heart Sally has...just think if you lived in a heavily populated area like New York City...you'd be swamped!!! :) Thanks, Fran
Sally it has been awhile since someone put their hand in my back pocket for a purpose other than to try to take my wallet ........ LOL
Sally my week last week was full of "Full Moons", or is that "Full Loons" :) :)
Sally - I worked in a casino years ago. If a full moon was to be on a Fri or Sat nite, they scheduled more security guards, also more violent crimes are committed - some days really make me wonder if it is a real full moon.
You give a lot and we love you for it.
Mana: We are? LOL! Yup...we have an ear for everything don't we?
Elaine: It's the little things in life..the ones that make us stop and think about everything but self ..in that moment.
Hi Gary...the internet didn't bring in the bag lady and the teen....those were people walking into the office...but hey....there are all walks of life in our shopping center and what I gave back was a good thing.
Gary W: It was actually a good day. One weird one...but still it's what I made of it :)
Kathy: Why yes it did ..thanks!
William: Let me know what happens with Cece. Poor baby. Tomorrow will be a wonderful day :)
Fran: I lived in Plattsburgh, NY in my younger years. Not too populated...and beautiful. Now, NY city is another story.....hold on the kids hands!
Lisa: There's been a couple of times I had to call the cops. A homeles woman changing her clothes in the hedge right outside our office door....wow.
George: hahaha...I don't even wear jeans with pockets anymore...need that elastic waistline to expand when I eat LOL! A good day all around...realizing that to give an ear is sometimes what people may need to lift their heart, their spirits....
Virginia: Thank you! I do believe many would do the same...and many may feel the same. There's a difference between compassion and not being able to say no :) As long as I have a few minutes...then I give it. (wonder what I would have done if the phone was ringing off the hook :)
Hey Sally, Thanks so much for your concern. I can only hope tomorrow will be better.. She had a terrible reaction to the steroids today. She has had this particular steroid before when they have to asperate the lymph nodes that have enlarged in the throat area. I have been on constant watch with the Oncologist inviting me to bring her to his home no matter what time if she gets worse. She has quieted down after hours of servere reaction and hopefully we can just get through the night. I can't be at the computer too much so no posting, they are written , just need edit. Maybe tomorrow.
Sally,
Sounds like a great day to come from contribution. You helped the kids, but may have helped the older folks too. You were probably just what they needed.

Morning Sally,
Days like those are rewarding, maybe not at the moment but surely in retrospect. Thanks for posting.
Hal
Hi Sally,
I had one of these days yesterday, I felt like a therapist (hubby tells me I attract them all!) I love how you helped that kid! :)
There are days we need reminding of the human side of any business. Thank you for sharing!
Hi, Sally
Sometimes we just have to stop and smell the roses. I also believe what goes around comes around. You will be blessed for your good deeds. I see you are a Century 21 agent too. So am I in Jonesboro arkansas.
Keep spreading good deeds!!
Tinker
That, Sally, is public relations and you will benefit greatly from presenting a helpful image to the public, even when an immediate benefit isn't apparent. You also present a helpful image for all Realtors.
Good for you.
You never know when one of those days is going to strike! Be careful out there...
Sally, thanks for the vignettes of your day! It isn't the numbers of transactions we close that mark the impact of our lives, rather the little things we do that touch other people. That being said, we've all got to close a few deals to stay off the bread lines!
I wonder if the high school that those kids came from has ever heard of NAR's "Home Words" curriculum?
It is always nice to see people taking a little time and care with those less fortunate or in need of help. Good for you.
If that highschooler's parents buy or sell soon, I bet they will call you.
Good for you!
Have a great day.
William: A comfortable hug to Cece :) You're such a good daddy.
Givers Get, Keep Giving.
I think I have been on both ends of one of those days before.
Thanks Olga!
Hal: At the time I was really thinking...what's going on today? Then by time the kid walked in I was thinking....it's my day to do something for others :)
Exactly Rob! And I know that even now....with my daughter in college and my son about to start again in fall....they will also do the same. Interview people, ask questions and I hope people stop to help them too.
Neal: Well, the situations weren't all real estate...but it seems to come with the territory when working in the office :)
Suzanne: Well, obviously we attract them because they can feel we'd help? who knows...but I believe that people are put in my path for a reason. Who knows if there is any rhyme to the reason....I like to just run with it and see where it takes me...
Thanks Allison! We are human right?
Thanks Tinker! Hello C21 in Arkansas!
Patricia: Not always...but most of the time :)
Matt: Careful? I do believe that days like this are to be faced head on...there are always going to be situations and circumstances in life .... the trick is to handle them appropriately :)
Kent: Success is in the eye of the beholder :) My success starts from within... and the prosperity for business surely follows! In or out of the office... the professional attitude (human side with) we carry surely appears in our behavior and the way we present ourselves. Even like on this platform.
Thanks Emily! I love days like this...where there's clarity on why.
Valerie: It's all in the manner of how I handle it :)]
Danny: Good thoughts....and we all have. Have a great day!
Awwwww. The test of persistence. That is the 3rd secret to success. Things just start happening when you persistently help others. Keep on helping. I love your blog and attitude.
Dave: Thanks for your upbeat attitude :)
Rosemary: Yes it does and no matter what what goes around comes around....that's not to say we expect good things when we give good...or wish bad on others when hurt....it's just the way thte world works. thanks...still trying to work on the header thingy.
Team: Ah....but it's all in perspective before I get there :)
John: Thanks John....there is always two sides to every situation and I try to look at a more positive side to everything.....it's less energy wasted that way :)
This is what I love about being a Realtor.
You never ever know what is going to change your day or who you may meet along the way. ^_^
Days like that may seem like you are getting no where in a hurry but I believe that they will result in something positive some day. Maybe that teen will tell someone at school how helpful you were and you will get some business from it. Have a better Monday tomorrow and keep smiling.
Sally, I love those kinds of days myself. It doesn't cost us anything to be kind to strangers....and the rewards can be priceless. I commend you for your patience and love of mankind. All who know you are truly blessed. Have a great day.
Tony: If not for a give and take world there would be no balance :)
Jeff: It's all good!
Sharon: And we have the ability to change it into a positive :)
Jacqueline: I love it!
Paddy: Maybe....I am looking at the moment....I helped him out and he was grateful :)
You are a sweetheart Bob...thanks for your kind comments!
You are a beautiful person - it all comes back!
Aloha Sally,
Sometimes you wonder "what the...?", have I been transported to another dimension? However, it really is just another part of life's rich pagent. I could talk story for hours about all the human behaviors I've witnessed and I'm sure I've puzzled a few people in my time, but it's all apart of the human condition. Thanks for sharing, it's always funnier when it happens to someone else.
Peace,
Linda; Thanks! I too believe the same!
Kimo: That's what I thought that day....until I realized...it wasn't about them...it was about me and what I needed to do :)
