My mom turned 80 years old in January of this year. She's still spunky and works at Oahu Country Club 4 days a week, goes golfing every week and .....VEGAS twice a year. She left for VEGAS on Tuesday morning and we have been working hard to move her from the little room back to her master bedroom she hasn't used in 15 years. We remodeled the Master a year ago and with our busy lives we finally were able to get around to it ...now.
Prepping for painting, new screens and ....I'm pooped. My son and daughter will be working on it this afternoon and tomorrow and Gary and I be there on Saturday am to finish up before mom comes home that evening. Gary has been the model son in law....changing all the electrical outlets and switches ....I mean, the house is 37 years old!
Anyway, I took a break yesterday and grabbed my camera to take pictures of mom's LUSH foilage. (I hired a yardman for Sunday as a lot has overgrown in a year too)
You think mom will be surprised?
Enjoy the show.....

Sally,
Mom will be pleasantly surprised, especially by the 'curb appeal' that the yardman will supply!!!
BTW, Do those avocados bear fruit? My wife makes an awesome guacamole!!! Thanks, Fran
Sounds like a wonderful surprise for your Mom, Sally.....I think it's awesome that all of you worked at this for her and I'm sure she'll love being in a freshly done, spacious master bedroom.
Beautiful gardens!! You're an amazing photographer....
(((-:
Jo
Fran: Look closely.....there's hundreds and hundreds of fruit just starting! Thanks!
Jeffrey: When you get my age....it starts to become a thing to do....to help mom out :)
Sally sounds like her trip was perfectly timed, painting is not one of my favorite tasks :)
Beautiful video, everything is starting to bloom and turn green around here to.
Kathy: Believe me...this is like jungle...don't like jungles with mosquitoes and centipedes :)
Jo: She'll love it...personally, I think she goes on these trips because she knows we'll do stuff while she's not there ....she's too much of a supervisor lol!
George: Me either...but it had to be done...the room she was in was in between my daughters and son's rooms. They didn't like her right next to them...haha.
Marc: Thanks Marc. She deserves it!
Sally, Such a nice surprise for your mom. Great job on the video, too. Very nice.
Sally, what neat pictures of your mother's overgrown yard. What a big job that had/has to be. Love your photo real estate show rendition. Great photos as always. ;-)
Sally,
A little exercise won't kill you. We used to have a white bird of paradise in my old yard...a lot of maintenance if you let them get out of control.
Thanks Teri! It will be a huge job for the yard guy on Sunday...big trees, bushes, shrubs. It's really hard to keep up....one day I might hire a bulldozer lol!
Thanks Kelly! I'm sure she will too!
Carole: She has her own little set up now... and have more privacy on the other side of the house :)
Neal: Leave it to you to act like all that work is nothing.
Sally,
What a great idea, what a nice surprise for her. And still working at 80, golfing week-ends, how do you keep up with her?
I think mom will love it.... what a good daughter - I should call my mom
Morning Sally,
You are a good daughter with a very loving, caring family. Your Mom will be delightfully surprised.
Loved the video, wish I could get our Bird of Paradise to bloom. I planted two of them nine years ago and still no blooms. Ask your Mom her secret for me, will ya!
Have a great weekend!
Hal
Thesa: Call mom!
Thanks Carol!
Hal: My mom has a green thumb...we've said that for years. When my plants get "sick" we take them to her 'hospital'. Everything I have given to my mom to bring back to live is flourishing in their pots at her house so I just leave them there :)
Neal: That's right...agree with me :)
Kathy: Great reminder....what to do for mother's day :)
Sally, So funny to catch up on some posts and came across this one about your mom. I was just talking to an agent in my office about my mom and how spunky and on the go she is. I am picking my mom and her girlfriend up from airport tonight, They have been in Cancun for 2 weeks! Lucky them. Love the Bird of Paradise, haven't had one since a kid in California. Too cold here!! I am sure Mom will be thrilled.
Hi, I missed have this one. I must have seen it though, just didn't read it ,,cause I remember the picture of the Bird of Paradise.
I sure do hope MOM is surprised and it is wonderful that you ,Gary and Kids are doing all this for her. Over the years things keep growing and some how we figure they stayed the same. Then we look and the jungle took over. And a master bedroom makeover to boot.
Well, I am glad I know the full story for the photo inspiration and it makes perfect sense. No wonder you didn't want to put words all over this picture.
I am slow, but not dead, thankfully and eventually I get it. LOL.
Now, I if could just figure out how to get a web page designed so it would fit on my textbook blog for market data. Then I could do better local posts that consumers might care about,:-) Don't bother looking , it is only 55 characters wide and nothing fits even in miniature ( which no one, even me could read, much less write, lol)
William! That's right! This header will constantly remind me of this time ....a time for mom.
BTW: She loved it!!!! Yard guy coming again on Saturday...can't wait to show you all pics!
