A year ago my PC was ready for a clean wipe and reload BUT I wouldn't give my PC up for my husband to do it because I was TOO BUSY BLOGGING. WORKING.
Two weeks ago my PC started to get a couple of quirks and we knew it was time to have a new one built. (I'd been just upgrading for the past two years)
YAY!
A wonderful business work station was built for me by PDC Systems two weeks ago and my husband (who works for PDC) brought it home and installed the rest.
My new system is choice for what I need in a nice business machine (and my husband laughs because I'm writing about this and he's sitting there with a high end gaming machine he built. I told him his machine doesn't make us money... lol) and will definitely keep me happy for the next couple of years.
So my business (blogging) machine suits me just fine. Over the years I have come to an understanding about what I need to do to keep up with technology and a quick smooth running machine. Maintenance is a must and I upgrade some parts yearly. We end up builiding new machines every two to three years. Why? Because without it I have no business.
Thanks to PDC Systems and my husband Gary....for my new pc!

Sally, I am so glad you are taking care of your machines so they can take care of you.
Gary: Me and MY pc....yup....it's the best part about business...pleasure...
Wow WooHoo!!! That's looks pretty fancy. 2 screens and everything. I'm about due for an update as well. Now get to work and quit blogging!! Oh wait....blogging is work. YIPPEE!!!
Ooohh! I want your hubby's computer! I'm SO down with the gaming machine! Actually I keep coth a laptop and a desktop computer on my desk. And my husband built my computer. It is primarily for gaming, but I do most of my work on it too. But I backup all my work to an external hard drive AND to my laptop =)
Did you hire someone to build yours for you? I kinda thought that if it's strictly for work purposes, a store-bought system would suffice. What the heck are you doing on that thing? =P
Congrats on getting a new PC. It looks great...but I have always wondered how you use more than one screen at a time? I have a laptop which seems to be all I need but I do love looking at the latest technolgy!
Sally- That is what I am working on- that 2 monitors! Love that! I need a new video card to handle it. On my Christmas list or sooner!
Bryant: Yeah...got tired of opening up MANY windows...now I have two screens with many windows....gotta get back to basics huh?
Lisa: PDC Systems built it.....Gary works for them....and store bought systems don't have specifics and in the end...my system works for me. I do everything ...except gaming :)
Diane: You can move screens around ...back and forth...keep outlook open...keep working ....open up a couple more for whatever...have the mls running..all kinds of stuff!
Katerina: I just have a GEForce 8600GT PCI-Express Vido Card (256MB) and it handles what I need to do. Depends on what you do.
Wow Sally,
It sounds GREAT!!! I love when I get a new computer. I got an Apple MacBook Pro in February 2008, and I can't put it down. The only problems I had were both brokers I worked for had PC Windows printers, so I had to get "BootCamp" a program that toggles from the Apple hard drive to Windows hard drive operating system. Other than that, I love my MAC... Enjoy your new computer..
;>)
Sally, I love it. My husband thinks I am on AR just to socalize and make friends. I tell him this is a money making thing too ;) Love your new PC too!!
Congratulations Sally. I just had a new one built for me last week. I'm getting used to it as we speak.
My old one was about 2 1/2 years old, about the limit.
Hey Gary, hook a brother up!!!
Sis - Looks and sounds wonderful, I should update my little bugger machine here at home pretty soon as well.
Ann-Marie: Glad you're enjoying yours.
Audrey: Yeah...they tease but they're just all J cuz we bring in the biz..hahaha.
Lenn: Me too...finally HAD to switch to Vista....and I actually love it... And of course this one flies...well, so did my last one but this one is even better :)
Lil Bro...well, <bribe> you'd have to come here...he hooks all my friends up :)
Hey there....nice machine with 2 Monitors....your Blog on one, and ours on the other....yep a great "Work" machine LOL :)
Hi Sally,
Congratulations and good luck with your new system. It still disturbs me that the top of the line, state of the art systems of today are obsolete by nightfall. LOL
Kathy: Hahahah....makes for a GREAT working machine...lol!
Hal: No luck needed....raring to go when it was set up....and still going strong :) It's all about CHANGE Hal....what can I say.
Sally - my only regret about our trip to Hawaii in January was that we didn't meet Gary! My older son's a computer guru and he always told me to be on the leading edge with my hardware and software, but not on the bleeding edge.
Sally, Lucky girl, my has been living on a wing and a prayer :) I keep thinking NEXT year I will get a new one. And you're lucky to have Gary to put it all together and get it up and running--how nice!
Sharon: Yeah...he is available nowadays....I like his schedule better with this company and he is hands on all the time .....just like he likes....:)
Carole: Well...it's quick and easy for him so no problem!
How could we function without our PC. Life without a PC would be like taking the train to Hawaii...
Sally the only bad thing about upgrading is how quickly a new system becomes out dated. It is tough to stay on top of all the new technology that is coming out.
Jack: Wow...what an analogy you have going there.... but oh so true. :)
George: That's why I like out built machines...take a part out and upgrade...and upgrade and so on. One thing good is I will always spend money for equipment way over advertising in newspapers or magazines... it's more productive :)
congrats on the new machine - I need to sart looking into replacing the office machine
Congrats on the new system Sally. It is nice that you have the computer expert right there at the house. My husband is anything but an expert. He can barely navigate and gives up all the time. He does have other great qualities but for computers I need to bring in outside help. Have a great day, my son would probably love the super gaming system BTW.
How awesome, Sally! My goal is October for a brand new system and I'm really leaning toward a Mac. My husband usually does the upgrade thing for me to keep it as up-to-date as possible but after a few years, you really just need to start from scratch. So, I'm blessed like you to have a husband in the IT field!
~Renae
Ive got 2 lap tops and my wife and daughter have one each...you think we have enough? I do...more lap tops than people.
Sally, must be nice....I'm waiting to get a Mac for blogging and video production at home....I may be waiting...it's pricey! Happy for you....new computers are like getting new cars! I need the person to install....I hate that part....although my husband does help a lot. It still stresses me!
Thesa: I think it's about time if you feel it is!
Paddy: Yeah...I'm pretty lucky...and my husband and son get along great with the gaming interests.
Renae: Isn't it wonderful! I know my software...he knows both :)
Neal: We have an Apple laptop that Gary uses at businesses...other than that...I sold my year old laptop a year ago...it just hung out in the closet :) We're so close to everything that pc's are great for upgrading...and don't have to worry about repairs, reloading, etc...he's in the house :)
Jeanean: No stress here....he did all the rest while I was still on the old one...back up went right over and when it was finished it was a matter of plugging in stuff :)
Pretty soon your home will look like the deck of the enterprise. You need a recliner computer chair with built in massagers next.
Randy: We have to find a spot for that in the bedroom...no room left in the 'office'. lol.
Sally I need to upgrade my computer as well. The darn thing has become way to slow with all the sites, pictures, and other junk that now occupies the hard drive. It will happen soon:)
Bill: At least back up your stuff before something 'happens'. :)
Sally, very cool, I got a new lap top late August. Took my PC to the office for my assistant, I've been thinking of getting another monitor for home. I tried working with desktop and laptop, but it was driving me crazy. Now I can blog work in bed.
Sally - Lucky you to have the hubby you have AND to get a new computer!!!! I do everything from my Gateway laptop, which is now going on it's 4th year and will need to be replaced within the next few months.
