On Saturday we took our English Cocker Spaniel "Shadow" to the Regional Park across from Waipio Gentry Community. After running walking around the park in the hot noontime sun for awhile it was time to go. The dog had her tongue hanging on the park grass and she was sooo tired (okay, WE were tired). This isn't going to well is it? HaHa!
Needless to say, I always find something interesting to take a picture of and this mushroom certainly caught my eye! Now, mushroom usually look like umbrella shaped domes with the accordion shaped crinkles flowing under the mushroom.
This particular mushroom (and no...I don't know what kind it is) certainly displayed a different type of appearance from the norm I'm used to. Bottom line here though is that a mushroom is the fleshy, spore-bearing fruiting body of a fungus. It either grows above ground on soil or on its food source.
Then I started researching to see just how many types of mushrooms there are. Red, black, yellow ones. No stalk and with stalk. Umbrella shapes and flat looking.

Sally, I love that the mushroom had you so intrigued that you went home and researched it. I love, even more, that you could use the mushroom to inspire all of us. You are amazing!!
i like what you wrote ,,,, Changing a day at a Time !
Georg Thoma / Maui EEM - Green Lender
Sally~ That is a very interesting picture of a mushroom. Can't say I have ever seen one like that before. You definitely have an eye for finding the unusual and for finding beauty in all that you see! And you have a gift and are unique yourself!
Audrey: Yeah...who would think the mushroom would inspire me lol! I thought it so different...but turns out it was just one of a million ... sometimes ones own thinking clouds the views of others.
Georg: changing every hour I think...don't you feel it over there?
Vickie: Well, if I were like everyone else I'd be pretty boring lol! Thanks for popping by to see. :)
Sally- Leave it to your creative photograhic talent and mind to turn a mushroom into a piece of art and great advice!
Hi Sally,
You are SO RIGHT!!
I found it ironic that two things you describe: investigating forms of financing, and internet marketing are low cost methods of generating leads. I tire of agents saying, "I can't do anything 'cause I'm broke."
Well, roll up your sleeves, get on the phone and get on the computer!!
Take care, Laurie
PS Love the photo of the mushroom!
We have to change to adapt to this new market. I am trying every day
Sally - well you have, once again, said a mouthful here. I just finished a Listing Strategies CRS class and returned from REBlogWorld08 - more ideas than I can possibly implement, but lots of thoughta about what I can and should do to keep changing with this market. You have to be careful to not get overwhelmed OR to make decisions that just don;t make sense. And do what works and stop doing what don't.
Jeff
Katerina: I'm really out there sometimes LOL! Can you believe a mushroom like that? It was HUGE!
Laurie: And because of that I'm still living, working and still generating potentials.
Russ: Great! Keep it up and it'll turn mushrooms into meals!
Jeff: I have a mouthful all the time don't I? I'm looking forward to seeing more of what you learned Jeff...We take and use what we can (what works) and throw away the rest (what doesn't) Cool concept!
So much to learn and read and so little time thanks for the reminder now where do I find the time?
Sally.... back awaaay from the mushrom. Listen carefully. Back away from the mushroom. LOL! j/k I like the mushroom photo. And I'm glad to hear that Shadow is doing well =)
Aloha Sally,
While reading, you said "Needless to say, I always find something interesting to take a picture"...so what's new for you my friend?
You know I'm saying that because you have become such a master at contributing amazing photos, time after time,... while at times like this you marry your message and illustration so well!
Sally - When I first started reading your post and saw that mushroom photo I knew somewhere along the way you would find a way to relate it to real estate. Your are amazing!
Wonderful post.. I like your positive attitude!!
I am the fungus amoung my office. I have embraced new outlets for exposure and can already feel the curds and whey starting to flow toward my tuffet. Thanks for the encouragement to continue to spread!
The only thing that stays the same in this business is change.
Sally - great photo - mushrooms are very unique - I found one in the woods bigger than my foot - and I wear a size 10
Terry: Same place I do...I make it...balance it and utilize it :)
Lisa: Back away from the mushroom LOL! That was pretty funny. Okay...now onward to research :)
Aloha Lynda!!! I love when you come by and enjoy what i put out there. I love what I do and basically love life and my surroundings. What can I say?
Thanks Donna: I appreciate you looking for the message!
Thanks Pam!
So true Randy!
Thesa: Are you serious! Wow.
Oh I'm thinking you're a research addict like me! Everytime I see or hear something interesting i right it down in a little notebook and then do some fun research on it.........i was trying to guess what it was before reading below - and frankly i wouldn't have guessed mushroom! maybe air filter? lol
Sally ... thanks for your thoughtful article about CHANGING IN AN EVER-CHANGING MARKET. Keep up the good local work and writing. Best wishes. Harrison
Great post. Change should alway be anticipated because it is a constant orce in our careers. Part of our success in real estate should come from adapting to that change. Survivors of tougher times see the change coming and modify the way they do business before the impact. Those that modify after to adapt to the change are reactionary, the successful agent that does well is anticipatory.
About 2 years ago we started building a new model for our business. It is still web based but moved more to a referral side. So even though we are doing less direct sales, we are still generating a good monthly referral income.
Sally, great post, thank you for sharing your ideas and photo with us. You're right, there is always something more to be done or another way of getting it done.
Sally, thank you for your perspective and your photograph. You're right there is always something more that we can do, or another way that we can get it done.
I have a transaction closing this week from a buyer who also found me on the internet. You really can't put yourself out there enough!
The only thing that is constant is change Sally. There' an endless amount of creativity within us and we can find new methods of expression daily. Thanks for the inspiration Sally.
Morning Sally,
Must be the day for mushrooms, I read another post about ushrooms yesterday. Neet way you brought us from one topic to the next. You are too slick, always managing to teach us something with your post. Thank you!
Nice thoughts and a great reminder that we constantly have to have an open mind and practice the "F-Word" of real estate. That of course is flexibility. Thanks for shaing & greetings from Paradise. (oh, great camera work!)
Sally thank you for the reminder to look at this group. I joined and was bounced once because I did not read guidelines and posted a unacceptable entry there. I know it was my fault but I get "gun shy" about groups I get bounced from. I will come back and look again because I know there is a lot of great stuff there. Great picture. I do wonder why it grew that way.
A picture is worth a thousand words...I know...everyone says that...but it's true.
Sally,
That is the most impartant thing with any business, a Possitive Mindset. I am new to this website and I wanted to pass along a website that has been working Really well for me. It is a Marketing System that allows me to voice broadcast to new and past clients with lightening speed. Plus, I get free leads, and it pays me to pass the software along. Another big thing for the down market, extra money! The website is:

Make it a Great Tuesday!
Megan
Sally, a mushroom transition to building blocks for business development. You are amazing....nice concepts and perspective. I feel inspired today....after a rather consuming day of activisim....ready to get back to positive thinking and business.
Sally- Loved it :)
Sally - it is so important to be receptive to new ideas, and be willing to learn them. Yesterday I spent the time learning some new ways to post to be more creative, and to stand out!
Liz: Oh, yeah...before ActiveRain I was glued just learning...even down to WebMD...lol! Seriously, you can find all kinds of info on the internet...and everything real estate related right here. Does look like an air filter huh?
Thanks Harrison...we have to BE a chameleon. :)
Jim: Great innovative idea for your office... I prepared long before and I never take a transaction coming forgranted.
Tony and Darcy: And surely it's all in the manner of how we handle it too. :)
Terri: And when we put ourselves out there we do so with a little bit of us in it as well.
HI SALLY!
I have a fascination with mushrooms, they are so cool to look at! It's like, one minute they're not there and then out of the blue, there they are!! I'm choosing to LIFE...to GROW!! Thanks for the subtle reminder!
Ronnie: That is a FACT! And we do...open the mind and expand our opportunities.
Hal: Really? I need to go find out what they said about mushrooms....fascination now :)
Greg: From one paradise to another...it IS the flexibility, open minds and the determination to succeed is what drives all successful people!
Anything new we can do to spice up and reinvent ourselves always gives us an edge above our competition.
Sally, Your "fungus" reminds me of the saying a rolling stone gathers no moss. I think we have to keep moving and reinventing and changing with the times or we'll be left in the dust. Great post (and mushroom!).
Paddy: No problem....some new people take offence when they get bumped...I recently changed some of the criteria to include local area posts too. Hope you enjoy...there are MANY posts to read that will keep your spirit up :)
Hey Neal...yup...we all can garble a picture...:)
Jeanean: As always you have an inspiring soul to pass on words of wisdom to others and surely add depth to this ongoing conversation. Thank YOU!
Kathy: Thanks buddy :)
Sharon: NO matter what we do in life and business we get more creative to enjoy whatever it is we're doing....otherwise...it becomes bland. :)
Yvette: LIVE AND GROW! Yup...nothing is constant in this world but CHANGE, Keep doing the same thing over and over ....and getting no results tells one that it ain't working :) Good for you and keep the energy and spiriti pumping!
Allen: You are so right! And without being innovative and creative....we would be sitting on the fence right along with those buyers who think they have to wait it out. :)
Thanks Carole! It's with this in mind that we continue our growth...in life, in business and in all aspects of being.
I am starting to feel like some fungus! LOL There are so many ideas here I can't get started today. That's a mushroom I haven't seen before.
I think the key is doing something, anything, to work on your business every day. AR has seemed "buggy" lately and I haven't been able to log on or post without proxy error messages so I've had to divert my attention to other things. Like my garage sale...great neighborhood visibility and I made $450 in one day! Now, let's here a woo hoo for that! :)
Sally anyone in sales needs to be able to adapt to the times, if they can't then they will not be around long. This business especially is ever changing, and the true professionals in it know how to adapt and work with what ever conditions they are faced with. Sitting around and complaining does not get it done or change things, being on top of things and knowing how to work within the present conditions does.
Sally - I love all of your positive messages. They are a great boost for the soul. Thanks for the great tips as always. I'm starting to write more localism post about my area. I agree, it's the best way for buyers and even sellers to see that we are the local expert.
Sally, I have seen a number of mushroom post lately. It must be mushroom season. It is a unique picture and I love the way you incorporated expanding our mind.
Lizette: You'll find your way! Glad Chanel is doing better!
Kelly: Me too....and it does get a little irritating...like...why can't they work while I'm sleeping? LOL!
George: No kidding...we all know what's going on with the real estate and loan industry...but why keep the wo is me attitude. We need to find alternatives and keep the industry moving! Somehow, someway ...I am DETERMINED to make it and make it happen for my clients!
Jessica: No sense just not utilizing whatever time we have without putting it to use.... good for you staying on the brighter side too!
Marchel: I need to go look...the only one I saw was mine LOL!
Good advice, change in a changing market. Don't let the naysayers stop you in your tracks, step over them and keep going! Nice example using the mushroom. That while we are not all made the same and can think for ourselves we still end up getting the job done.
Remakes are important, changing with the market and the times are vital.
Your point is well taken.
Richard
E & E: Exactly! I surely don't hide from everything going on ... although people still need a home to live in....
Richard: Change is good sometimes....and at times like this is no reason to ignore that we can and will succeed.
OUR LITTLE HAWAIIAN INSPIRATION: SALLY CHEESEMAN :-)
Sally, You definitely have an eye for finding the unusual. Very interesting picture of a mushroom, can't say I have ever seen one like that before. You're so right on we have to change to adapt to this new market.
Hi Sally - This is a great blog. I recently blogged about change and how important it is to embrace it. Fungi grows in moist, rich soil and that's what we all need to do... let our spores fly in the wind and find the richest soil we can and reap the rewards. Remaining in the same place and doing the same thing over and over is a good way to an early death. So, change is good, recognizing it is even better and embracing it fearlessly is the BEST! Aloha from the Howdy State.
In order to stay on top in this business, we have to use change in positive ways in our business...its always changing.
The mushroom could also be a space ship/flying saucer. Makes me think about the what else could it be game, or 15 ways to use a brick, a tweezers - or any object! -- a neat way to help your brain get out of its box every so often. I too am a photo nut -- take tons of photos and carry the camera almost every place I go -- never know when something fun will be there. - or spark a post. Thanks, liked it lots
I agree, we have to make change and be adaptive. No way to tell where the end is but who cares. We can still sell houses, get a paycheck and love our life! congratulations on your blog buyer.
Barbara: Thanks...I kind of like that :)
Charles: Have to...or remain stagnant.
Hey Linda! I've been missing coming back to comment....it sure is the truth isn't it? Nope gotta keep those wheels turning!
Sonja: Chameleons....that's what we are :)
Alexsandra: That's a fact! Our visions sparked by a snapshot. :)
Mary: Yeah...I like balance in my life :)
Sally, Beautiful picture of the shroom, and great advice. Now some advice for you - next time you take Shadow for a walk, ask her to slow down so she doesn't tire herself out so quickly. LOL
