With tears streaming down my face I sat with my husband and watched Barack Obama walking through the hall and down the steps to his Inaugural Ceremony. With emotion welling up inside of me for this proud moment of a "Hawaii Home Grown" boy who grew up to be our 44th President of the United States.
Nothing is constant in this whole wide world except change.
Over the course of my life I have grown in mind, body and spirit with ever changing thinking in my beliefs and values that molded me into the woman I am today. I am watching the same change in our growing government with the instilled beliefs of our 44th President of the United States that we do NEED change.
You got the whole world in your hands is right on target as this event marks a time in history that is not only noted by the rest of the world but heavily praised as well. I am confident that our 44th President will lead us well and that the Aloha Spirit of the people will shine through to walk beside him and work together to meet a common goal.
The love we have for our country.

Thanks Celeste....it should be the start of something great.
I am confident that WE all will work together to make this a change we will never forget...that we will be inspired to work harder.
Sally- You said it all....I too had tears, but for a different reason. I see the new President as someone that understands all of us. Someone that is uniting "We the people" and has said how important it is that we all work together...and together is how we will triumphh. Just as my Post from the other day...optimism, and hope :)
Beautifully written my friend.....I feel your pride.
I'm with you......it was very emotional and moving!
Very Emotional event on TV. Like him or not - seeing that many Americans on the National Mall is/was amazing!
Sis - Who is this Obama character you speak of?
Seriously, what a historic moment. I hope the chap can pull off some positive changes for our country, we sure could use them.
and here in Asheville , while SALLY was finding emotional moments around the incredible OBAMA INAUGURATION today, I was doing the same thing...
and I couldn't explain it better than Sally...
Today has been something amazing to see...What will be more amazing will be what happens tomorrow/ Enjoy the moment!
Sally: thank you for posting.........we sure can all fly, if we want to.
It is a historic moment and one that as a country we should be proud of and celebrate. The call to action is clear and hopefully many will answer.
Celeste "SALLY" Cheeseman HAWAII Relocations & Real Estate (Century 21 Liberty Homes)- January 20,2009 is the beginning of great things to come. Change is here. Yes we can help this country better. It might take a while but there is no problem nor situation that God can't fixed. Nothing too big for our God. As long as we put our differences aside and come together as one as trust and hope is restored in this great country we call the United States of America. Great post Celeste.
I missed the whole thing..I was working all day but I'm interested in seeing what he can do. Seems as if the energy was really strong on the TV news.
Kathy: I could get into great detail about the Aloha Spirit and the pride of our people in this state. I watched the news with his fifth grade teacher...going to Washington....first time ...to see his stufent as President. Awesome.
Ann: Very emotional. Not just the Presidency....everything this historical moment stands for....and more.
James: I'll have to say he is very likable and the one thing that struck me throughout the whole thing was that he has a voice but doesn't yell or get hostile or push his weight around :) :)
Lil Bro: It's going to be ALL of us that pull ourselves back together. Too long dependent on one person to change the world. It's all of us who have a voice...that he will listen to....It's the PEOPLE my little brother...the PEOPLE. (kind of like the way it is here on AR :)
Sally - it was, indeed, an incredible event to witness on live TV. Something to remember forever. We are looking forward to watching it again tonight at our neighbors "Inauguration Ball" with good friends and neighbors. I don't recall ever seeing this kind of excitement, support and emotion - an incrdible historic event.
Jeff
Sally many changes have taken place in this country since I was a child, I just hope that the expectations today are not so high that they go beyond what anyone is able to deliver.
Sally, I have to agree, what a day this was/is! There is new hope and new energy all around and I was watching whenever I could!
janeAnne: Thanks! I really had some emotions running high this am. Watching all our Hawaii parties and balls were fun too!
Gary: I agree....and then the day after and after that!
Diane: We will my friend...we will. :)
Cindy: I do hope so too...it's ALL of us that are going to make the difference!
Lanre: I agree. With this milestone we ALL can become greater people for our country. There is no greater good than the commaraderie of the people....united we stand. Mahalo (thank you)friend.
Neal: I worked this afternoon but got to see it this am (time difference paid off for once :)
Jeff: It sure was. And the spirit is alive and well ...the aloha spirit is partying in DC...all the Hawaii people are hooraying! I couldn't believe the energy in that huge crowd. What a legend to go down in history.
George: That's on them then. I couldn't even understand the blaming Bush...it was all the people with him that helped make all those decisions....and the only thing that I hope remains...is that he doesn't lose sight of who he is now ....one of the PEOPLE.
Carole: Energy...spirits alive and well, and I was in awe. Happy Chinese New Year!
Hi Sally, I am delighted that you have a chance to have such pride in that" home grown boy" from your state now being in the White House. It is a historic day for a lot of reasons but your reaction and feelings are important to me as a friend and I couldn't be happier for you on this amazing day.
Hi Sally , well said I think there were alot of happy tears she today!
What an incredible day. My wife and I were able to spend part of the day and evening watching the ceremony and the festivities and we both kept remarking that it was just unbelievable!
Sally - I think many of us felt the tears of pride as Obama became President!
It was a very emotional event, I shed a few tears watching it from home. I believe as I watched the whole world celebrate, the coming years of his Presidency will build our Country and our friendships around the world! Shawn Davis
William: After talking with you yesterday it was proof ..once again...that no matter what ...we have like minds...and the strength of friendship surely is reason we accept one another for who we are ...not what we are not or what our opinons are...hugs my friend!
Sonya: There surely were! I could FEEL the energy coming from the crowd....from all the hawaii residents that were able to attend...and the shaka sign he gave the Punahou band when they went by.
Russell: It was some event. I haven't seen this much energy since....
Barbara: You betcha!
Shawn: It has begun :)
Sally, I got a sub for tennis and took the day off work to not miss any of it. The excitement was so moving. I loved that fact that there really weren't any problems, except the cold of course, and how much it meant to the people who attended.
Sally-I too was so moved by the entire Inauguration this term. I'm looking forward to President Obama with is gentleness and guidance. I was so ready for a change. I hate politics, truly, but fell in love with Obama 3 years ago on the Oprah show. Our Nation needs him and I pray we all support him. Beautiful post.
Hi Sally, This is such a wonderful post! The President has a tough road ahead, but I can tell so many great people (us) are behind him. I believe we will fly!
I have to let you know our friend Lanre, noted you post and sent me over here! I'm so glad, because I would have missed it!
Have a wonderful day!
