For those of you that remember the movie "Love Story" (1970) you most likely equate the meaning of the word "passion" with ‘love'. "Love means never having to say you're sorry" is one line that permeated throughout the movie and continued on after her death regarding his relationship with his father.
Now that I'm a ‘little' older the meaning for passion takes on a whole different meaning and it surpasses the joy, infatuation and happiness one feels when in a wonderful relationship. It goes beyond that first love for someone or something as if in blissful harmony through a ‘courtship' phase.
The motivation and determination becomes a driving force and therefore becomes my passion in a deeper sense of the word.
- The passion and intense desire to be the best person I can be....therefore, leaving a grand legacy behind. What do I want to be remembered for? My laughter and kind heart, my healthy relationship with myself and setting healthy boundaries, overcoming obstacles and continuing on with life, accepting others for who they are...not who they are not, caring for others and having empathy for their problems...but not enabling them to continue on a path of destruction, love myself so I can
love others. The list goes on but I'm sure you get the jest. This is also for me, my family, my children. - The passion to work hard on my relationship with my husband Gary. It passes the infatuation phase and becomes a relationship and bond that takes hard work and effort to keep alive. Communication is key to a successful marriage (or relationship) and if the communication fades..so will the marriage. We discuss (sometimes argue...so we can make up lol) every aspect of our marriage. Financial, careers, intimacy, family and everyday needs and wants. We do say we're sorry though. Leaving things unsaid and going to bed upset is something we just do not do. And have fun ...together!
- The passion to be one of the best in my Real Estate career. During the course of my life I ‘picked' jobs where I could save the world. (codependent) A Family Law Attorney's office and a Structured Supportive Living Skills program. It drained me (literally) and lo and behold! I realized that you can't help people who DON'T WANT to be helped. Now I help people that want to be helped and the caring that goes into each and every transaction is surely the key to my success.
- The passion for writing locally about my home.....Hawaii. I am driven with my love for the Hawaiian Islands. I have strayed afar to many lands only to return to the tropical paradise that I will experience daily from the time I awake every morn to fluttering my eyelids to succumb to deep sleep every night. Passion for life in a place I love....my home.
Passion is my intense desire to live my life with good morals, beliefs and values and the determination, consistency and effort to work hard on me from the inside to the outside. Everything else WILL follow. That's a given.
You cannot love if you do not love your .....‘self'.
Hint: I know I'm living my life well when I drop off to a peaceful sleep every night after evaluating my day.

Sally you have a lot to be passionate about. I think those that have passions are usually pretty good at them:)
Thanks Bill....I'm also passionate about gravitating towards good people...like you :)
Sally- well I want to say that I know all this about you and go on and on about how much I love and adore you too but then that photo grabbed me like nothing else has today, WOW, your passion in your photography also shines. The colors are amazing!
Katerina: I love taking pictures for my blog! It adds...substance :)
Sally - that was beautiful! Thank you for sharing that with all of us!
Thanks for the words of wisdom! You brought up a good point - Never go to bed upset or mad at each other -
Barbara: Thanks much!
Steve: Ah....my ex mother in law told me that (about thirty years ago) It works today though :)
Sally, passon is one of my very favorite words, and concepts. Without it, we are walking dead. Very nice post!
I was in Kuai, Hawaii last July. What a beautiful place with incredible nature...though I didn't get to see a wild cat like that. I loved just about everything about Hawaii...except for the 'Spam' thing...just don't get the passion for canned meat when ya'll have abundant FRESH seafood.
Randy: I love that! I am Alive!
Lydia: That 'wild cat' is at the Honolulu Zoo. (if you move your mouse over the pic it's labeled :) I'm not too keen on the spam thing. Except spam and egg musubi for breakfast!
WOW!!! Excellent post, and I feel the same way because I love waking up every day! I was thinking about posting for this subject this morning during my morning run and may just jump in. I always enjoy reading your upbeat posts no matter when you write...Thanks!
Sally Jo, when I think Hawaii, I think of YOU. That's good blogging (and "love of an area")- surely I'm not the only one that makes that connection- you've really demonstrated an understanding of a great place to live, with a great agent to make it happen!
Sally, this is just lovely and your pic is spectacular! You have given a top notch example of a well written, creative Diary post. You shared the "real" you, your philosophy of life and your love of Real Estate. Thank you so much for agreeing to be a judge in the contest!
I hope you sell lots of houses today!
Later in the rain~Deb
Sally, Great post! You seem to have a wonderful positive attitude and I'm sure that's done you a lot of good in your personal life as well as business. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Sally, you get my vote! What a nice post to live by...
Sally now you are bring back some real old memories for me by remembering me of that movie. They are old memories, but they are very good memories :)
Sally, You are so cute. Your passion is so obivious in your writing. I just know that if I saw you in person I would just have to hug you straight away. Love your photo, gorgeous. Love knowing a bit more about you.
I think my favorite on your list of passions is your passion to work on your relationship with your husband. So few people don't have a clue about the reality of marriage. It does take constant work. Many people will quote the phrase about nothing in life that has any value, requiring hard work. Yet they forget that marriage is something of great value. So of course it requires work. Even on the days we don't feel like trying, we can choose... make a decision... to try harder. Instead of holding onto hurt feelings... instead of choosing to be an unforgiving, spiteful person, we choose to forgive, and rise above our petty feelings, and get back to work at preserving something that is worth preserving!
And then there's the biblical definition of love...
1 Cor 13:4-8a 4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8Love never fails.
I guess this is why "God IS Love". And why we're supposed to Love our neighbors as ourselves. Because love is a verb, not a noun. =)
