This is a view of Waikiki Beach on February 8, 2009 at approximately 11:00am. Everyone was either at the Pro Bowl or headed to the last Pro Bowl game at the Aloha Stadium. Yet, with all reports on tourism and visitors numbers going down it sure took on a different life this past Sunday.
Maybe everyone on the beach didn't come for the Pro Bowl? Maybe they just came to soak in the sun? Maybe take advantage of great air fare rates? Hotel rates? Just came to get away from the cold?
Whatever the case may be it was a nice scene. Business at the beach was booming :)

Sheldon <-----very jealous !!!!!
How neat. like sheldon, I am jealous...
Now that is some property I would like to sell! And if I can't sell it I would at least enjoy the scenery!
Sally - Beautiful pictures, I really am ready for a day at the beach... Give me a couple of weeks and I'll be soaking up the sun.
Oh, how wonderful! It's another rainy/blowy/cold day on Pacific Northwest Coast, where I live, and these photos make me feel warm and toasty! Thanks for sharing!
We thought about coming out for a visit next month. The cost of a vacation out there w/our current economy, has greatly decreased. It would be our first vacation to Hawaii. The pictures look very nice.
Oh my gosh I am really really ready for some, well ok A LOT of beach and sunshine. ~Rita
My view is all to white right now. I would love to be away from the snow and at the beach! Boy does that look inviting.
Sally- Looks just like it did 18 years ago on my Honeymoon! I sure hope it's not 18 more years before I see it again! Thanks for the beautiful memory! All the best! -Kevin
The photos make me want to jump on a plane going to Hawaii. My husband and I have been to Hawaii twice, and JUJST LOVE IT.
Sally,
Great shot of Diamond Head!!! Thanks, Fran

Sally that just not seem to be fair. We are walking around with coats and gloves and you guys are in tinny bathing suits :) :)
All I can say is I am very jealous and wish I was there enjoying the sand and sun!
Sally- AHHH! My heart sings when I see Diamond Head! I used to hang out in Waikiki as a teenager- of course, you want to be where all the action is:) Love your photos! Brings back memories. Is that the Royal Hawaiian in that one photo, the pink hotel?
Sally - great photos to illustrate that despite air fares and the economy, people are still flying to Hawaii to enjoy the sun and ambiance.
Sally, thanks for the photos. I miss being there sometimes. How about some shots of Queen Beach?
Oh, Sally, You have no idea how much I miss the sun and sand! I absolutely cannot wait until I'm on Jones Beach on a gorgeous day and I'll think back to today...

Sally great pics as always and I cannot imagine ever getting tired of living in "paradise". Hope you are looking forward to a great valentines day!
I needed a view of a beach today Sally. Winter has been long and hard here. Thanks for sharing some warmth, sand , and surf.
Woo Hoo, We are finally getting our winter when just a couple weeks ago out temperature was in the 80's and this morning my car was covered in what looked like snow. It was crystallized ice. Being a sun worshiper all my life , you can well imagine where I would rather be. I think the beaches in Hawaii will remain crowded for some time to come. The rest of the US is pretty cold right now.
Sally - I love going to the beach in the winter - I have special places that the tourists don't go to!
Sally - beautiful photos. They make me want to return to Waikiki. I have fond memories of my short visit and our walk down this beach on the way to tea AFTER climbing Diamond Head. :) Thanks for the memories.
